Kung Hei Fat Choy! This year’s new Chinese zodiac animal king – the Metal Ox, will bring a year of recovery, reclaim and discovery, according to feng shui Master Y.C. Sun. At the Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® Global Business Council Lunar New Year celebration last Friday, Sun said the Metal Ox is known to have mythical power to stabilize a bad situation created by the Rat in 2020 and start the process of recovery.

Sun predicts by mid-June we should return to some form of “normal” life, and by next February 4, 2022, the year of the Water Tiger, “we will see a healthy community and a strong economy, as well as people are busy traveling and having fun.” This scenario is similar to the year of the Rat in 2008, during the Great Recession which ended in 2009, the year of the Earth Ox.

Sun said the Metal Ox requires people to be diligent and provides them with a combative spirit, perseverance, mental toughness, and the determination to overcome adversity, such as the pandemic. The Ox is disciplined, easy going, trusting, and introspective, but occasionally suffers from irrational fears, such as fear of impending doom. The Ox also can be stubborn and competitive. When provoked, it becomes enraged.

The Metal Ox’s positive energy is directed to fight for justice, defend and protect safety, security and the interests of family and loved ones. Its negative energy can lead to violent confrontation, disruption, domestic violence, robbery, suicide.

Sun predicts unusual weather will occur in January, May, September, and November, and earthquakes possibly happening in March, June, July, August, and September in Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Peru, Taiwan and Alaska, including a possible large-scale earthquake at Xinjiang, China. He sees July (from July 7-August 7) as a bad month, as karma between the Wood Goat and Metal Ox come in conflict.

For the housing market, Sun said the recovering economy, low mortgage rates, increased buyer demand for investment income, first-time buyers and low inventory will lead to greater competition for desirable homes and further home price appreciation. High-earning millennials turning 28 years old will buy their first-time homes, and the oldest millennials will trade up.

Sun sees real estate being strong for the next 4-5 years, but noted 2021 will be a hard-working year for real estate agents as they face intense competition and reduced transaction fees, and become efficient in technology. Except for the southeast and northwest cities, Sun said the housing market should remain steady with good price growth particularly in San Jose-Sunnyvale, Oakland-Hayward, Sacramento-Roseville-Arden-Arcade, Napa, Oxnard, Riverside, Las Vegas, Reno, Phoenix, Austin.

According to the Chinese calendar, 2019 is the Year of the Earth Pig, and unlike last year’s Year of the Earth or Mountain Dog, which was a year of highs and lows, market volatility, political and economic chaos and protectionism, the Year of the Earth Pig will bring a progressive business climate, more compromise and concessions. Unlike the Mountain Dog that doesn’t back off, the Earth Pig is gentle, cherishes friendships, takes responsibility seriously and is willing to compromise, according to prominent astrologer, fortune teller and Feng Shui Master Y.C. Sun.

Sun told members of the Silicon Valley Association REALTORS® that this year will bring an energy change that will impact people’s behavior and thinking. People will tend to make a change, such as relocation, job change, commute or go abroad for job or travel.

Investments will increase as will company mergers, buyouts, joint ventures or expansions. This year will be good for real estate as inventory will increase. Parents will encourage and help their high-tech, healthcare and MBA children buy their first home or upgrade to more ideal homes. The market should experience a temporary rejuvenation and home sales activity should pick up by June.

Sun said this year will be a productive year for real estate, but also a critical year which could define the next three years for agents. This year agents need to show their value. Also, because the pig likes to compromise, expect subprime mortgages to surface, but they will be better structured than in the past.

Sun predicts an end to the U.S.-China trade war, with a final deal struck in June. He predicts President Trump will do well, especially in the first two weeks of March, though clashes between him and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will continue. Sun explained Pelosi, born in 1940, is a Dragon, and Trump, born in 1946, is a Dog. Dogs and Dragons clash in the Chinese Zodiac and can’t tolerate each other.

Jobs and businesses in demand this year are information technology, software and high tech hardware engineers, data scientists, drug production, particularly in cannabis and health care. There will be intense competition in the restaurant business, in electronics, computers, solar energy, entertainment.

Sun predicts the economy will start to stabilize in late August. The stock market will still be volatile, but there will be signs of rejuvenation in mid-August.

The pig can also be naïve and believe in easy money schemes. “Remember that there is no free money,” warned Sun.

The Feng Shui master and astrologer added this year people should avoid overindulging on high fat, high cholesterol foods and junk food. Health problems could revolve around the spleen, kidney, intestines, eczema, gastroenterology, urinary tract, reproductive organs, cold, flu, and swine fever virus.

Feng Shui Master Y.C. Sun

Gong hei fat choy! Prominent astrologer and feng shui master Y.C. Sun recently shared his forecast for 2018, the Year of the Earth Dog, with members of the Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS®. This is going to be a year of highs and lows, said Sun.

Protectionism will be on the rise this year, a “classic pullback and comeback story,” said Sun. There will be violent ground movement – earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, mudslides, rebuilding of aging infrastructure like roads, levees, bridges rails, and in line with dry earth, there will be drought, flooding, fire, traffic and accidents.

The year will also be characterized by market volatility, economic and political chaos, but expect a comeback by Labor Day, said Sun. The country’s GDP will rise to 4 percent by year-end, but there will be lots of chaos before that.

Be careful in April, particularly April 5 through May 4. It is going to be a bad and disaster-ridden month because the karma between the month of the Fire Dragon and Year of the Earth Dog will be in big conflict.

The President was born in the Year of the Fire Dog. The fire dog does not get along with the earth dog, so expect him to face a lot of trouble and challenges in health and in politics this year. He will encounter chaotic issues in March, in the second half of April, two weeks in June, and in October.

As for real estate, Sun said business will be good, but will slow down. It will be tough to be a real estate agent because of so much competition due to the housing shortage and low affordability. Dallas, San Antonio, Stockton, Las Vegas, Orlando, Colorado Springs, Salt Lake City, Charlotte, Tulsa, Nashville, Houston, Tampa will be the top U.S. markets this year. In the Bay Area, top markets are San Jose, South San Francisco, Daly City, San Bruno, Hayward, Concord, Vallejo, Santa Cruz and Santa Rosa.

As for feng shui and the home, Sun said good locations are the center (happiness, celebration, always keep the middle of your home clean, free from clutter), southeast (money/fame), south (best energy for writing, studying, research), northwest (tender loving care, family values, promotes romance), southwest (change, travel, relocation). “Bad” locations are the north (disaster, misfortune), northeast (arguments), east (decline of energy, loss of money, robbery), west (sickness).

If your house faces any of these “bad” locations, Sun suggests placing six copper coins under a mat or placing a copper bell by the entrance. You can also add a peace lily. For homes that face east, add a large glass of water or blue decoration. For homes that face northeast, add a red decoration.

The feng shui master’s advice for the Year of the Earth Dog: “Time for meeting real people to get connected, getting in shape, eating healthier food, spending less time on social media/games, learning a new skill, be kind, be proactive, or becoming the barking dogs (that) seldom bite!”
